  • What are the advantages of using Nova when looking for a job?

Registering with a recruitment agency will ultimately save you time, energy and stress. With your career objectives in mind, our team will do all the heavy lifting to get your foot in the door with an employer, matching you with the right job based on your experience, and sending out job applications on your behalf.

It is also a great source of career advice. Recruitment consultants have intimate knowledge of the local market, the skills companies are looking for, what jobs are available, salary guidance information, and the frequency of openings in your chosen field – all invaluable information when planning and making career decisions.

Using an agency gives you access to many more job opportunities than you’d come across alone. As a job seeker, you must keep your eyes peeled across printed media, job boards, career pages and social media to ensure you’re finding a range of positions. Recruitment agencies know about a number of job openings at once and are usually the first to hear about a new role and will reach out when one ticks all the boxes you’ve identified that interest you.

And, as a job seeker, it’s free. You have access to more opportunities, timely and accurate feedback, and have much less work to do.

  • Will Nova help me if I’m just starting my career/don’t have relevant working experience?

Here at Nova, we would love to be able to find everyone a job through the efforts of our recruitment team. However, we are also aware that isn’t always possible. This is precisely why we helped to found Connect by Nova, a not-for-profit whose mission is to help local talent in Cayman achieve career success.

Through free training, career development resources and bespoke 1:1 career guidance, their team can help you get the skills and knowledge to confidently tackle the employment market. For example, they can sit down and talk about any advertisements you’ve seen, work on application decisions, and look over your applications to ensure that when you apply to different companies, you represent yourself in the best way possible!

  • Will Nova charge me for their services?

It’s completely free! Yes, you read that right – as a candidate, utilising Nova's services is 100% free. So, what are you waiting for? We will never charge you for our service of putting you forward to clients. Our revenue comes from charging clients (the employers) a “placement fee” when our candidates are offered a job.

This explains why our recruiters work extra hard to ensure that the candidates we send are the best fit for the roles we work on, as finding the perfect match is so important!

  • Will my current employer find out that I am looking for other opportunities?

The entire process at Nova is confidential. We would never call your current employer or let them know you are looking. We will only send your details to a client after speaking to you about this beforehand, as we understand the need for discretion and confidentiality!

  • How long will it take to hear about a job after I register?

It depends on the role and the employer, as we work on behalf of our clients. While we wish we could control the market, we react to the needs of our clients and their internal processes. We recommend signing up for job alerts so you can stay informed about all the new roles our team is working on in your area of interest.

Alternatively, if you are in a position to look for a role proactively, we can take a more direct approach. This would involve discussing potential employers of interest to see if they are looking for anyone with your specific area of expertise, and then reaching out to them on your behalf.
