Responsibilities and Duties
As a Legal Secretary, your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, proofreading, and amending legal documents, reports, and correspondence.
- Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners and senior legal professionals.
- Managing diaries, calendars, schedules, and meeting arrangements.
- Handling internal and external telephone enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Maintaining and organising files, records, and legal documentation.
- Completing company searches, conflict checks, and matter administration tasks.
- Assisting with client events, marketing initiatives, and business development activities.
- Supporting billing processes, invoice administration, file opening, closing, and archiving procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this Legal Secretary position, you should have:
- A minimum of two years' experience in a secretarial or administrative role.
- Recent legal secretarial experience within a law firm environment.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and legal documentation processes.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy, with strong document formatting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word.
- Experience using document management and client management systems.
- Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and a collaborative approach.
