Job Summary

A well-established financial services organisation is seeking a Loans Officer to join its on-site team in George Town. Recruiting on behalf of a respected banking institution, this role offers the opportunity to build strong client relationships, assess lending opportunities, and support the growth of a diverse lending portfolio while maintaining high standards of compliance and risk management.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Interview prospective customers and identify suitable banking and lending solutions.
  • Assess loan applications through detailed analysis of financial information, credit reports, collateral, and repayment capacity.
  • Prepare credit applications and lending recommendations in line with lending policies and procedures.
  • Develop mortgage and lending models using Microsoft Excel.
  • Ensure lending documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant before approval and funding.
  • Manage loan renewals, overdrafts, and lines of credit.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate lending activities and timely loan processing.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in lending, sales, banking operations, or credit administration.
  • Understanding of loan products, credit assessment, and risk management principles.
  • Strong customer service, relationship management, and business development skills.
  • Ability to analyse financial information and make informed lending recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using banking software systems.
  • Professional banking qualifications and experience in consumer, mortgage, commercial, or SME lending would be advantageous.
