About the Opportunity

Job Summary
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Legal Assistant & Corporate Secretary position. This is a temporary contract (12-months), where you will ensure compliance with legislation, regulation, and policy for business activities, personnel practices, and premises. You will provide legal support, serve as Recording Assistant or Assistant Secretary, and oversee administrative duties for the department.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide general legal services to subsidiaries in various regions.
  • Advise departments and branches on legal issues.
  • Draft and review non-standard legal documents.
  • Review and advise on account opening documents and new products/services.
  • Oversee internal documentation to ensure legal protection.
  • Manage Board Litigation and Provisioning Reports.
  • Assist with internal conveyancing matters.
  • Review draft or proposed legislation and advise on public policy issues.
  • Manage external counsel and legal service providers.
  • Monitor legal actions and liaise with external counsel on court proceedings.
  • Assist external auditors with required reports.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must hold an LLB.
  • Minimum 5 years' legal experience in practice and/or corporate secretarial duties.
  • Experience in Company Law, Employment Law, and Litigation.
  • Sound technical knowledge of banking policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment for financial products and services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships.
  • A high degree of computer literacy, particularly with legal and secretarial software.
  • Ability to review complex documents and provide practical advice.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
