About the Opportunity

Job Summary
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a professional and organised Receptionist to join a dynamic legal office on a 3–6-month temporary contract . This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in a legal or professional services setting who enjoys being the first point of contact and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting legal staff and ensuring smooth front-office operations.
Company Information
Our client operates within the public legal sector , providing legal advice and handling criminal cases in collaboration with law enforcement and government departments. The organisation is known for its professional, collaborative culture , and consists of a team of approximately 35 staff, including around 20 lawyers. You will be joining a supportive administrative team that values precision, confidentiality, and public service.
Responsibilities and Duties
As the Receptionist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for clients and the general public.
  • Answering and directing incoming telephone calls.
  • Coordinating interviews between witnesses and Crown Counsel.
  • Receiving files and evidential material from law enforcement and logging them into the legal registry system.
  • Dispatching outgoing files and rulings to law enforcement after proper registration.
  • Handling courier packages and managing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Assisting in the preparation of memos and summonses, and maintaining correspondence registers.
  • Supporting archiving and other administrative tasks as assigned by the Personal Assistant.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Previous experience in a law firm or legal setting (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in handling multi-line phone systems.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Competence in using office software and registry systems.
  • A proactive and professional approach to client service.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks.
